West Leigh instructed by Cooper Clarke Construction have completed the manufacture and installation of W40 steel windows at Wimbledon Fire Station on Kingston Road, London, SW19.
These were fitted to both the front and rear of the station above the roller shutter doors. The frames were hot dipped galvanised and then polyester powder coated in the unmistakeable ‘poppy red’ of the London Fire Brigade. 28mm triple glazed units* were required and there was also the need for tinted / reflective glass to the front elevation. See glazing notes were further information. Above and below are aluminium insulated panels painted white. The frames were fitted to existing steel beams with specially prepared 10g galvanised steel lugs.
During our time on site, as this was a fully operational fire station, we were aware of the importance of the service being provided and the possible implications. As usual with a West Leigh installation this was achieved with minimal fuss.
